The Varsity Mathletes started the year strong with a massive 28 points putting them in second place just four points behind Tehachapi on September 17, 2025. Right behind Bishop was Boron in third place with 25 points and Rosamond in fourth with 22 points. Each team has started the year strong with an incredible display of math genius!

Individual Mathletes scored incredibly this meet especially Bryce Cokeley and Amaya Hays who placed third overall with a total of seven points. The Mathletes who placed fourth overall with six points each were Caleb Fitt and Granite Puhvel. Finally, the Mathletes with five points each placing them fifth overall were Josef Borow, Teagan Orr, and Ben Rowan. Congratulations to the seventeen other Mathletes who traveled to the meet who had excellent starts to the season including Seniors Sydney Wilson, Taylor Currie, Kano Graves, Donovan Mondragon, Siena Pope, Ari Rager and Juniors Sydney Garcia, Adan Perez, Bram Crall, Reagan Dermody, Ulysses Gonzalez, Clare Haverstock, Blake Jahn, Tyler Norcross, Alexis Solorio, Tatum Swanson and Oscar Woods!

The high scores of the Mathletes are made even more impressive because of the difficulty of the problems. Despite it only being the start of the season, the math is as difficult as ever with challenging problems such as:

When asked about the 2025-2026 Mathletes season, Coach DeeDee Buchholz responded “The season is off to a great start. Tryouts were crazy because my classroom was busting at the seams to squeeze in all of the interested Mathletes! With more Mathletes than ever, our 49 JV and Varsity Bishop Mathletes are eager to learn and excited to compete! Look out Tehachapi, we will get you next Meet!”
