Greetings from Bishop, CA!

Relax and Enjoy the Holiday Season!

Looking for something different this holiday season? Rather than hosting the whole family at your house or overwhelming relatives at theirs, consider meeting in Bishop for a relaxing and joyous get together. Oh, the pressures of planning, decorating, cleaning and cooking – leave all that to the friendly folks in Bishop! The Small Town with a Big Back Yard also has plenty of fun activities so you won’t have to worry about how to keep everyone entertained. With Bishop as your home base this time of year, you really can ski, fish, golf, hike, bike and boulder all in the same weekend. Your family will come home with renewed energy, big smiles, and lifelong memories.

Best Thanksgiving Ever….

Enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving dinner at Whiskey Creek, Wanaaha Casino or just up the hill at Convict Lake Restaurant. Spend your Friday off exploring Bishop’s Big Backyard, including a relaxing soak at Keough’s Hot Springs. November 25th is “Small Business Saturday” and you can find something for everyone on your gift list at Bishop’s awesome shops & boutiques. After a day of shopping, watch a first run movie at our town’s landmark Bishop Twin Theatre.

Christmas Holiday Festival… Ahead Of Time

Start December off right by visiting on the 1st weekend for our Christmas Holiday Festival. On Saturday, December 2nd, the festivities kick off with a Santa Fun Run at 4:15 pm followed by the Main Street Parade at 4:30 pm. There will be a tree lighting ceremony and Santa visits in the front of the park after the parade, then head on down to the Academy Street Party with live music and many vendors. Stroll, shop and dine downtown as many businesses will stay open later than usual.

All About The Railroad Express

Take a step back in time to the late 19th century on Saturday, December 9th at the Laws Railroad Museum. Sip hot cocoa, decorate cookies, make ornaments and ride on a horse-drawn wagon down caroling lane. Ride with Santa’s elves and a merry band of Christmas carolers on the Death Valley Brill Car. This truly is as magical as it sounds. For more about the train ride of the year, who will love it, and what makes it great, check out Gigi’s in-depth article about the experience.

The “North Pole” of the Eastern Sierra

From November 25th through December 17th, the Cardinal Village Resort in Bishop Creek Canyon transforms into a wonderful winter wonderland. Go ice skating on Cardinal Pond. Pick up a fresh-cut Noble pine Christmas tree. And even have some snow fun by going sledding, cross-country skiing, or snowshoeing. Be aware that the Cardinal Village Resort is only open on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays throughout this time. In addition, Santa visits on Saturdays and Sundays from 11 am – 2 pm.
