Community Rallies for Oakley Fundraiser

In a heartwarming display of solidarity, 60 individuals gathered today for a workout fundraiser in support of Oakley Kiddoo, a courageous fighter in her battle against brain cancer, specifically Medulablastoma. The journey began on October 3, 2023, when doctors made a startling discovery – a sizable, 5 cm tumor in Oakley’s brain. Prior to the diagnosis, Oakley had been experiencing bouts of discomfort and persistent vomiting. Swift action was taken, and the following morning, surgeons successfully removed the massive tumor.

Around the 1st of November, Oakley embarked on a demanding chemotherapy regimen, comprising one week of chemotherapy followed by two weeks of hospitalization for close observation. Her last chemotherapy treatment is scheduled for January 28th and 29th, 2024.

As February 1st approaches, Oakley will continue her treatment journey with a stem cell transplant, necessitating an admission that spans four weeks, followed by another round of the same procedure, accompanied by an additional four-week hospital stay. If all goes according to plan, Oakley could complete her treatment within the next three months.

The fundraiser aims to alleviate the financial burden on Oakley’s family, particularly her father, Ryan, who juggles a full-time position at Auburndale Public Works while making weekly hour-long trips to visit his daughter in the hospital. Oakley also has a younger brother, Waylon, who will turn two in August. The Kiddoo family resides in Lakeland, Florida.

Notably, CrossFit Auburndale organized a separate fundraising event in solidarity with Ryan and Oakley, joined by the global CrossFit community. The outpouring of support from near and far has touched the hearts of the Kiddoo family.

Ryan Kiddoo is the son of Jake Kiddoo and is supported by his stepmother, Cyndee Kiddoo, and his mother, Sara Jones, along with stepfather Les Jones. The community’s unwavering love and support have provided a glimmer of hope during these challenging months. The Kiddoo family extends their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has stood by their side throughout this difficult journey.
