Caltrans Reopens Monitor Pass from Winter Closure
MONO COUNTY — Caltrans reopened State Route 89 (Monitor Pass) from its winter closure today at noon. It originally closed for the season on January 2. Maintenance crews from Caltrans Districts 9 and 10 began excavating the highway on April 1 and finished clearing snow from the road this week.
Inclement weather may still be in the forecast and Caltrans will close the highway again should conditions warrant it. For the most up-to-date information on road closures, chain controls, CHP incidents, and more, visit the Caltrans QuickMap site at quickmap.dot.ca.gov or call the Road Condition Hotline at 1-800-427-ROAD (7623).
