Bishop Community Christmas Events

bishop chamber of commerce

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Bishop Chamber of Commerce is busy planning several fun & festive Christmas events and now is the time  to sign up to participate.

The parade is set for Saturday, December 7th, beginning at 4:30pm and this year’s theme is “Saluting the Past  and Celebrating the Future.” Everyone is encouraged to decorate parade entries with lots of lights  incorporating the theme – use your imagination! Parade entry forms are due by November 27th. Forms are available on www.bishopchamberofcommerce.com and at the chamber office.

Just before the parade, Bishop Rotary Clubs will host the annual Santa Mile fun run. Immediately after the  parade, there will be a Tree Lighting Ceremony in front of the Bishop City Park. Kids can visit Santa after the  Tree Lighting at Eastside Guest House Holiday Market. Don’t miss the Academy Street Party with live music  and many vendors. Shop, sip & dine downtown at the many merchants that will stay open late.

On Saturday, December 14th, Railroad Express will return to Laws Railroad Museum and Historical Site. From  10am until 3pm, families will enjoy holiday crafts & activities, train rides, Smokey Bear, Santa Claus, wagon  rides and refreshments. Admission is $20 for those over 10 years old; $15 for ages 3 through 10; and free for  kids under 3. Tickets are available now on Eventbrite.

The chamber is also organizing the ever-popular “Shop Local Holiday Raffle.” Participating merchants will  have raffle boxes and entry forms; shoppers can enter once at each location and prizes will include gift  certificates from participating merchants. The grand prize will be a $500 local shopping spree. Interested  businesses should contact April at the Chamber as soon as possible.

Thanks to the generous sponsorship of Bishop Real Estate, the Home & Business Decorating Contest is back with big cash prizes in each category; $200 for first place, $150 for second and $100 for third. Entry forms and  details available on www.bishopchamberofcommerce.com
