Bishop Broncos Girls Tennis Fights Hard Against Experienced Desert Team
Bishop Union High School Girls Tennis hosted Desert High School in their first league match on Tuesday.
Bishop did very well and fought hard including bringing 3 matches to tie-breaks, however Desert had more experience on their side. Final score Desert 9 Bishop 0.
Two of the close matches of the day were played by Sofie Ablanedo and Xitlaly Solorio on the singles side of the match.
Sofie Ablanedo won the first set 6-3 then lost 4-6 then came back from trailing 2-9 to just lose 7-10.
Xitlaly Solorio lost her first set 1-6 won her second set 6-4 then lost the tie-break 2-10
“These girls are some of the younger ones on the team,” said Coach Cummings, “so I was proud of how hard they battled.”
Other singles scores were:
- Scout Osland 2-6 1-6
- Sydney Norcross 1-6 1-6
- Lucia Elia 0-6 1-6
- Siena Pope 1-6 5-7
In the doubles it was the number 3 team of Harshvi Raulji and Xochitl Lopez who had the 3rd tie-break. They lost 4-6 won 6-2 then lost the tie-break 6-10.
Other doubles matches:
- Kinlei Romero and Avery McGraw played as the #1 team in their first ever league match. Scores 3-6 2-6.
- Destanee Barajas and Ameilia Winter were the #2Å› with scores of 1-6 1-6
Next the Broncos travel to Rosamond on Thursday.
