Bishop Broncos Girls Tennis Give Strong Performance, Demonstrate Sportsmanship in 5-13 Loss to Burroughs

BUHS Girls Tennis hosted Burroughs High School on Thursday.
Final score: Bishop 5 Burroughs 13
4 of the 5 points were earned by the doubles teams.
Sofie Ablanedo and Xochitl Lopez won both their matches against the #1 and the #3 teams. Sofie played her 3rd match with freshman Lila Santana. They barely lost 5-7. The team of Kinlei Romero and Avery McGraw also won 2 against the #2 and #3 teams 6-2 6-2. They lost to the #1 team 2-6. Other doubles teams for the day were Siena Pope and Amelia Winter. Their scores were 3-6 and 2-6. Also new to the team are Leah Morrison and Tatum Swanson. They played well for their first time but lost 4-6.
In singles one point was earned by Xitlaly Solorio winning 6-4 over the #2. She lost 2 other sets 0-6 , 4-6.
Aubree Frechette played 2 sets losing 2-6 and 3-6. Lola Mullner also lost 1-6 1-6.
Azul Aranzubia played the last set of the day in singles losing 1-6.
“This is a great team so far,” said Coach Cummings. “They were complimented on their great sportsmanship. Everyone from both teams had a great match.”
Next the Broncos play Golden Valley on Fri Aug. 28th at 3:30.
