Deceased Person Located in Dixon Canal
On Monday, October 26, 2026, at approximately 11:32 a.m., Inyo County Sheriff’s Office (ICSO) deputies were dispatched to the 1700 block of North Sierra Highway regarding a report of a deceased person in the canal.
Deputies located a deceased person in the water along the northwest portion of the Dixon Canal. With assistance from the Bishop Police Department and Bishop Fire Department, the individual was recovered from the water. The Inyo County Coroner’s Office subsequently took custody of the deceased.
The Inyo County Sheriff’s Office and Inyo County Coroner’s Office are conducting an investigation into the death. There is no known threat to the public at this time.
