ENDURANCE SEASON IS HERE; MAMMOTH TRAILFEST THIS WEEKEND!

This week’s endurance event is the Mammoth Trailfest beginning on Friday, September 25. Mammoth Trailfest is an inclusive world-class multi-day trail running event filled with races, storytelling, free entertainment and vendor village, and great local food. It is designed to increase access to trail running through opportunity, education, and trail stewardship. It is an event built by our community, for our community, right in the heart of California Over 3,000 trail runners are expected to compete in three trail races. Friday is California’s HIGHEST hill climb – 3 miles and 2,400 feet to the top of Mammoth Mountain! Saturday is California’s highest ultra – 32 miles with 7,000 feet of climbing and Sunday is the California Crown – 16.1 miles with 3,900 feet of elevation. Changed traffic conditions exist in and around The Village.

WINTER EXPO AND OPENING NIGHT OCT. 1

The nights are getting longer and cooler, which means winter recreation is just around the corner. Join us for the 3rd annual Winter Expo and LA Kings Ice Opening Night next Thursday, October 1 from 5-7:30 pm at LA Kings Ice at Mammoth Lakes operating in the Community Recreation Center (CRC). REDS MEADOW ROAD UPDATE

The Reds Meadow Road continues to make significant progress. The contractor is currently working on sub excavation, curb, riprap, aggregate base, full-depth replacement, and asphalt placement along the length of the road. As of September 20, 2026 the road is now closed Monday through Friday and only open Saturday at 7 a.m. through Sunday at 11 p.m. for the remainder of the season. Additional updates from representatives of the FHWA project management team will be given at Town Council on Oct. 21.

E-WASTE AND HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE EVENT

Save the date! Mark your calendars for our FREE Electronic Waste and Hazardous Household Waste (HHW) collection day event at the Mammoth Disposal transfer station, located at 59 Commerce Drive in Mammoth! The event will take place on Saturday, October 17 from 8 am – 3 pm. All accepted materials will be recycled at no charge for all Town of Mammoth Lakes residents. No commercial or construction material permitted. This event is being hosted in collaboration with Mammoth Disposal.
