Tehachapi rallies past Bishop Union, 22-9
TEHACHAPI — Bishop Union took a 7-0 lead into halftime Friday night but couldn’t hold off Tehachapi, falling 22-9 on the road. The Broncos were hurt by four offensive turnovers, including two fumbles and two interceptions. Bishop’s defense kept the team in the game throughout the night. Middle linebacker Dom Dondero led the Broncos with 15 solo tackles, seven assists and a tackle for loss. Brady Johnson added an interception and a pass breakup, while DeVaun Mitchell recorded six solo tackles and a tackle for loss. Wyatt Miears had four solo tackles and a tackle for loss. Zane Nicholson finished with four solo tackles, six assists and half a sack. Sergio Sandoval recorded three solo tackles and half a sack, while Daxon Svacina contributed three solo tackles and three assists. Offensively, Oscar Henriquez carried 21 times for 100 yards. Johnson scored Bishop’s lone touchdown on a 5-yard run. Bishop Union will look to bounce back next week when it travels to Bakersfield to face 4-0 Ridgeview High School.
