FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Full-Scale Emergency Exercise to Be Held at the Bishop  Airport on Saturday, May 3

Bishop, CA – On Saturday, May 3, the Inyo County Office of Emergency Management will conduct a full-scale  emergency exercise simulating a mass-casualty incident. The exercise is being staged in coordination with  partner agencies such as Bishop Airport, local fire departments, emergency medical services, law  enforcement, and Northern Inyo Hospital.

The exercise is scheduled to begin at 9:00 AM and conclude by 11:00 AM. While this is only a drill, residents  may notice increased activity at the Bishop Airport, including the presence of emergency vehicles, sirens, and  actors portraying injured individuals. There will also be a simulated fire and visible response operations  occurring throughout the morning.

As part of the exercise, a test emergency alert will be sent to individuals who have opted in to Inyo County’s  Genasys Emergency Notification System. This alert will clearly indicate that it is part of a test and no action is  required.

Residents who have not yet signed up for emergency alerts are encouraged to do so by visiting  ready.inyocounty.us.

“This exercise allows our emergency response partners to practice and refine critical skills in a controlled,  realistic environment,” said Inyo County Emergency Services Manager Mikaela Torres. “We thank the  community in advance for their understanding and support as we work to enhance our readiness.”

Please direct any questions regarding the exercise to [email protected].
