Bishop Broncos Ski Race Team Compete in Slalom Races at Mammoth

The BUHS Bronco Ski Race Team participated in the first two races of the South 2 Division of the California Nevada Ski and Snowboard Federation on January 16 and 17. Mammoth High School, Rim of the World High School, and Campbell Hall Episcopal High School were the other teams competing in these Alpine ski races held at Mammoth Mountain.
Thirteen Bronco skiers participated in the two Giant Slalom (GS) races on the first day and two Slalom (SL) races held on Friday.
For the girls team, senior Elinor Crall finished 9th, 11th, and 14th on the GS races and 12 and 13 on the SL races. Senior Ellizabeth Ellsworth had a 19 and 21 place finish in the GS races. Junior Teagan Orr had a 18, 19, and two 21 place finishes in the GS races and two 17 and two 18 place finishes in the SL races. Sophomore Edem Felde finished 23 and 24 in the GS races and 19 and 20 in the SL races.
For the Boys team, sophomore Bo Tanner had an overall 2nd place finish in the SG races and a solid 3rd place finish in the SL races. Senior Tyler Gilbert also had a pretty solid overall 5th and 7th place finishes in the SG races and a 5th and 6th place finish in the SL races. First time ski racer and freshman Colin Noesser, had great overall 9th place runs on both GS races. Senior Finn Zeugswetter had a 10th place finish in GS and finished 7th in one of the SL races. Freshman Abram Crall also had a top ten finish on his second SL race clinching the 10th place spot. Senior Elan Boehme, junior Brody Berkovatz, and freshmen Brad Rockwell and Zavi Cokeley had a strong showing in all races.
Coach Bill Egan is very happy witnessing the dedication and progress all skiers are demonstrating. The Bishop Bronco ski team is scheduled to have their next races on February 13 and 14.
