unnamedmammothwinter

The holidays in Mammoth Lakes are a magical time of the year. The beauty of the mountains, the snow in the trees, the animated snowflakes lighting up the night sky, and the spirit of a small community all combine for a memorable experience. When you come to a ski town for Christmas, skiing, snowboarding and snow sports are most likely on your list of adventures. But there are so many other activities and events to enjoy over the holiday season. At the top of the list is the one-of-a-kind Night of Lights on December 17 at Canyon Lodge, and from December 20-23 in The Village, meet Santa and Woolly at SantaVille. On December 22, Skate with Santa at the Mammoth Ice Rink, and finally, celebrate the sendoff to 2022 with a free concert and fireworks show in The Village!

The Parcel Construction Update

unnamedparcel

Construction at The Parcel reached a major milestone at the end of November, with placement of all of the approximately 100 prefabricated building modules onto the 2nd floor podium of both buildings, topping out both buildings at their final four-story height. The buildings are currently being further weather-proofed to allow ongoing interior construction of utilities and finishes throughout the winter months. Installation of structural steel framing for the single-story childcare center and community space at the south side of Building A will continue as long as weather permits. Further site work, including installation of dry utilities, roads and sidewalks, is suspended until the spring. Phase 1 of The Parcel, aka “The Sawyer” incudes 81 apartment units within 2 buildings, at several affordability levels and with a variety of unit sizes between studio and 3 bedroom, as well as a community space, childcare facility, and a public park. Units are expected to be available for occupancy toward the end of next summer.  Anyone interested in living at The Parcel should contact the Town developer’s property manager, Buckingham, at (855) 452-8250 (option 0) for additional information and to be placed on the waiting list. #theparcelnews

Crews this week continued to build out the interior Sprung components and operating amenities. The locker room CMU walls are going vertical, work continued on the metal framing for the westside storage, mechanical and Zamboni rooms that are mostly framed out, and the large HVAC air-handling ducts are being hung from the ceiling. LED lights are scheduled next as power is planned to be ready in early January. On the outside, apart from lots of shoveling, crews continue to build out the mechanical enclosure for the new 300 Ton air-cooled Trane chiller and HVAC units. The Town appreciates the community’s understanding and patience as we work towards enhancing our community recreation amenities. Look for weekly #crcupdates on the Town’s Facebook page.
