The holidays in Mammoth Lakes are a magical time of the year. The beauty of the mountains, the snow in the trees, the animated snowflakes lighting up the night sky, and the spirit of a small community all combine for a memorable experience. When you come to a ski town for Christmas, skiing, snowboarding and snow sports are most likely on your list of adventures. But there are so many other activities and events to enjoy over the holiday season. At the top of the list is the one-of-a-kind Night of Lights on December 17 at Canyon Lodge, and from December 20-23 in The Village, meet Santa and Woolly at SantaVille. On December 22, Skate with Santa at the Mammoth Ice Rink, and finally, celebrate the sendoff to 2022 with a free concert and fireworks show in The Village!

LA Kings Announce Historic New Ice Rink Partnership

The Town of Mammoth Lakes, Mammoth Lakes Tourism (MLT), and Mammoth Lakes Recreation (MLR) have launched an historic new, community-driven partnership with National Hockey League (NHL) franchise, the LA Kings. As part of the expansive, multiyear partnership, brokered by AEG Global Partnerships, the partners have teamed up to launch LA Kings Ice at Mammoth Lakes – the Town’s first indoor Olympic-sized ice rink. The forthcoming LA Kings Ice at Mammoth Lakes will operate within a newly constructed, multi-use Community Recreation Center (CRC) that is set to open to the public in 2023. Additionally, as part of the agreement, MLT will continue its longstanding relationship as an official partner of the LA Kings. “We could not be prouder to be working in partnership with Mammoth Lakes Tourism, Mammoth Lakes Recreation and the Town of Mammoth Lakes to bring LA Kings Ice to Mammoth Lakes,” said LA Kings President and Hall of Famer Luc Robitaille“We know this project will have a lasting and positive effect on the Mammoth Lakes community and we are delighted to help elevate the quality and experience of ice sports for its residents and visitors, many of whom are also avid hockey fans and players.” Click here to read the entire Press Release from December 7, 2022

The Parcel Construction Update

Construction at The Parcel reached a major milestone at the end of November, with placement of all of the approximately 100 prefabricated building modules onto the 2nd floor podium of both buildings, topping out both buildings at their final four-story height. The buildings are currently being further weather-proofed to allow ongoing interior construction of utilities and finishes throughout the winter months. Installation of structural steel framing for the single-story childcare center and community space at the south side of Building A will continue as long as weather permits. Further site work, including installation of dry utilities, roads and sidewalks, is suspended until the spring. Phase 1 of The Parcel, aka “The Sawyer” incudes 81 apartment units within 2 buildings, at several affordability levels and with a variety of unit sizes between studio and 3 bedroom, as well as a community space, childcare facility, and a public park. Units are expected to be available for occupancy toward the end of next summer.  Anyone interested in living at The Parcel should contact the Town developer’s property manager, Buckingham, at (855) 452-8250 (option 0) for additional information and to be placed on the waiting list. #theparcelnews
