Social Spotlight, New Town Hall Opens this Year

A new space for sharing ideas and engaging with your neighbors, as well as Town government is opening at the end of the summer. The Mammoth Lakes Town Hall located on Tavern Road at the corner of Sierra Park Road is nearing completion, and we’re excited to welcome the community into the facility. The Town Hall is not just a place for staff to work, but a civic center meant for connection. Financed with a bond issuance and built with the community in mind, the Town Hall will have a large, welcoming lobby that lends itself to meetings and discussions. It will be a bright and functional space complete with comfortable seating and areas to talk about projects and activities. The lobby is directly connected to the new Town Council chambers, as well as the front counter, with support staff readily available to assist you. Thoughtfully placed monitors with wayfinding messaging and information will guide you through the new space. Screens with access to digital forms and documents will also be available to facilitate your needs. In addition, two conference rooms are available right off the lobby for members of the public to meet privately with staff. Some staff will begin moving during the month of July, but it will be a phased approach in order to commission the building and test systems. Public-facing, front counter service is not expected to begin until the end of the summer. Stay tuned for updates. We can’t wait to meet you in the new location!

Olympic Medalist Deena Kastor Named Grand Marshal for Mammoth’s Fourth of July Parade

The Mammoth Lakes Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce that Olympic medalist and longtime Mammoth Lakes resident Deena Kastor will serve as the Grand Marshal for the 2026 Mammoth Lakes Fourth of July Parade. A bronze medalist in the women’s marathon at the 2004 Summer Olympics, Deena is one of the most accomplished distance runners in U.S. history. She is also the New York Times bestselling author of Let Your Mind Run: A Memoir of Thinking My Way To Victory. In 2012, she helped spearhead the development of the Whitmore Track and Sports Field. Deena and Andrew also organize beloved local events including the Footloose Freedom Mile on the 4th of July and the Footloose Turkey Trot each Thanksgiving. The 2026 parade theme, Make it Mammoth – Go the Extra Mile ties into the nation’s 250th anniversary while capturing the energy that Deena Kastor brings to Mammoth Lakes.
