Christmas Bird Count Recap
ESLT Staff, Gena Wood, participated in The Annual Christmas Bird Count in Bishop last weekend!
The bird count, organized by the Eastern Sierra Audubon, welcomed over 60 participants for the annual count last weekend. Gena’s group counted over 41 different species of birds.
This annual winter bird count is important citizen science project that has improved our understanding of birds’ changes in migration and wintering habitats. Gena’s group saw the usual winter residents: Yellow-Rumped warblers, White-crowned sparrows, Ruby-crowned kinglets, and California Quail. Gena was delighted to come across a pond with Wood ducks and a tree full of Cedar Waxwings. There seemed to be a notable increase in Orange-crowned warblers this year and it seems quite a few Anna’s hummingbirds have firmly chosen Bishop as their year-round residence!

ESLT News and Events

Welcome to the ESLT Team, Stephanie! Stephanie has called the Eastern Sierra home for 34 years, and during that time, she has developed a deep appreciation for its beautiful landscapes. Her career in the nonprofit sector has spanned a variety of roles, including nonprofit consultant, Controller for Inyo Mono Advocates for Community Action, and Fiscal Director for Wild Iris Counseling & Crisis Center. When Stephanie is not working, you’ll find her traveling on vacation, baking desserts in her kitchen, or tending to her herb garden. One of her favorite pastimes is ice skating across our mountain lakes, surrounded by the breathtaking beauty of the Sierra!

ESLT Holiday Mixer was a grand success! Thank you to all who came out and participated in our lively ugly sweater contest.
We enjoyed having everyone in the ESLT backyard for s’mores, our ugly sweater contest, and a memorable time together with our community and partners. We loved seeing both new and old faces.
Thank you to all of our partners and sponsors, including Mountain Rambler Brewery Brewery, and Owens Valley Distilling Company for helping make our event such a success!
