Early Lead For Garces Memorial Seals Fate For Bishop Broncos
Bishop Broncos competed Monday 5/16 in Round 1 in the Division 4 playoffs. This is noteworthy, as our student athletes were once again forced by the skewed CIF playoff process to compete in a division that did not give them what we felt was a fair opportunity to be successful. Bishop, based in Division 5, was matched up against Garces, based in Division 3.
Bishop fell behind early and couldn’t come back in an 8-2 loss to Garces Memorial on Monday.
The Bishop Broncos struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Garces Memorial, giving up eight runs.
Jake Frigerio was on the hill for Bishop Broncos. The bulldog surrendered four runs on three hits over three innings, striking out six. Acie Valdivia and Cain Omohundro entered the game as relief, throwing three innings and one inning respectively.
Frigerio went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Bishop Broncos in hits, and had 4 stolen bases
Albert Cano, 1-3
Riley Eropkin 1-3
Cain Omohundro 0-3, 1 RBI
Kennedy Batchelder, 1-3
We are proud of the successful season our Broncos Baseball team had as the undefeated HDL champs. Go Broncos!
