Drone Survey Work Scheduled in Mono County; Operation to Gather Data for Future Broadband Installation Project

MONO COUNTY, Calif. (December 1, 2023) – Zeitview will be conducting drone work in Mono County December 4, 2023 through December 8, 2023, between the hours of 7AM – 5PM.  The drone operation is being held as part of a scheduled broadband installation/expansion project, and will include flyovers in the communities of Topaz, Coleville, Walker, June Lake, McGee, and Crowley Lake.  Minimal sound disruptions should occur.

The project is part of the Local Agency Technical Assistance (LATA) award provided to Mono County.  LATA is invaluable to advancing the deployment of broadband in priority unserved/underserved areas of unincorporated Mono County.

The data collected by the drone operations will be used to develop Low-level network designs for future broadband infrastructure expansion.  During these operations, residents can expect to see drones flying at about 200-feet high, and ground crews conducting safety checks and taking measurements on the ground.  The data captured by this operation is limited to utility structures (poles and wires), roads, sidewalks, and curbs.  The data is used solely for mapping purposes.

Data collection through the use of drones greatly increases the speed at which local jurisdictions can complete community improvement initiatives.  Impacted residents received a detailed memo from Zeitview explaining the operation earlier this month.

A map identifying impacted communities can be accessed here.
