Sherwin Grade Project Suspended for Winter

MONO COUNTY — Work on the North Sherwin Shoulders Project will suspend for the winter season beginning tomorrow, November 9. All lanes on this stretch of U.S. Highway 395 on Sherwin Grade will reopen.

During the winter work stoppage, drivers will have access to all four lanes of U.S. Highway 395 through the project area. Southbound bicyclists are still encouraged to use Lower Rock Creek Road as an alternate route because the width of the shoulder can be as narrow as two feet. Northbound bicyclists can use the current four to ten-foot shoulder. K-rail will remain in some places as a substitute for guardrail. The speed limit will increase to 65 miles per hour through the project area.
Work is scheduled to resume after May 15, 2021.
