As summer winds down\, it’s time to give these trails and public lands a little extra care. \nJoin the Mammoth Lakes Trail System and Inyo National Forest for the Annual Lakes Basin Cleanup on Saturday\, September 19 from 9 AM–12 PM at Horseshoe Lake Trailhead. \nWe’ll spend the morning working together on trail maintenance\, landscape restoration and general cleanup\, helping care for the places we all enjoy throughout the year and preparing the Lakes Basin for the winter season. \nWhat to Expect \nWe’ll kick things off with a free breakfast from Mammoth Mountain\, followed by a safety talk and work assignments. DESCRIPTION:Local entrepreneurs looking for money to grow or start their business will have access to dozens of funding options at the free 10th Annual Eastern Sierra Capital Summit in Mammoth Lakes on Thursday\, Sept. 17 from 8 a.m. until noon. \nCSUB Small Business Development Center director\, Kelly Bearden will be joined by presenters in a “reverse shark tank” format where lenders and assistance providers will detail loans\, investment capital and grant programs.  Topics will include SBA loan programs up to $10 million or more\, small micro business loans from $5\,000 to $50\,000\, investment and capital-based programs such as venture capital\, crowdfunding\, and more. \nThe first capital summit was held in Mammoth Lakes in 2017. He has published several books and articles on Chinese and world environmental history. \nHis new book\, “Deep Time in the Mono Lake Basin\,” applies this deep expertise to California’s Eastern Sierra\, tracing 10\,000 years of geological forces\, Indigenous stewardship\, water politics\, and ecological restoration. A resident of June Lake\, his new book brings both scholarly rigor and intimate knowledge to the complex history of an ancient landscape. \nThis special event will be held inside the Eastern California Museum\, located at 155 N. Grant St. in Independence.
